WWF Hardcore Title Match- Rhyno (c) vs. Kane

  • 6 minute match
  • The Radicals get involved very early. Kane tries to fight them off but fails. Test and the Hollys run down to make the save.
  • Eddie gets a low blow on Kane and Rhyno powerslams him through the announce table. That’s enough for 3.
  • The fight continues into the break.

COMMERCIAL

The Goodfather and Val Venis vs. Kaientai

  • 4 minute match
  • Taka pins Val Venis after a missile dropkick.
  • After the match, Venis and Goodfather get into a shoving match. Stevie breaks them up. After Stevie and Goodfather turn around Val hits them both with a clothesline. He shoves Ivory out of the way and rips off his shirt and tie as he walks out.

COMMERCIAL

In the back, The Radicals want a six man tonight and they get it. It’ll be The Radicals vs. The Hollys and Test. William Regal also announces that tonight Chris Jericho will wrestle Chris Benoit in a non-title match.

Elsewhere in the back, Shane McMahon’s limo arrives. Nobody steps out.

Even elsewhere, Undertaker and Triple H have a heart-to-heart where they agree they want to hurt each other. First though, they will hurt Big Show and Austin.

COMMERCIAL

Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn & Dean Malenko vs. Hardcore Holly, Crash & Test

  • 5 minute match
  • After a hot tag, Test cleans house and hits Eddie with the pump-handle slam. Saturn is the legal man though and hits a t-bone suplex on Test for the 3 count.

In the back, Austin tells show to take care of business tonight and they’ll be fine.

COMMERCIAL

Lillian Garcia interviews Austin and The Show. Austin runs down his career accomplishments. World Titles, Tag Titles, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble Winner. He’s the most celebrated wrestler in WWF history. Tonight, Stone Cold guarantees victory over Taker and Hunter and then he’ll do it again at Backlash. Austin walks off the screen and Show mentions he used to be World Champion. Lillian nods.

Promo Time with Vince McMahon

  • Vince reminds us that the Hardys and Lita are off WWF TV forever.
  • Vince says the same may be true of Shane O’ Mac after The Big Show demolished him on Monday.
  • Shane is like WCW, a problem of the past.
  • “Here Comes the Money”
  • Shane is on the TitanTron.
  • Shane tells Vince he can throw Angle at him and The Big Show at him, but nothing will deter him from bringing the Superstars of WCW onto the big stage of the WWE.
  • Vince asks where they are then? Where’s Goldberg? Where’s Jeff Jarrett? Where’s Lex Luger? Where are the “superstars” of WCW?
  • Shane says he’s not bringing overpaid egomaniacs, he’s bringing hungry lions. And their spot is going to be very soon.

COMMERCIAL

Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit

  • 8 minute match
  • Good fast paced match with lots of high spots.
  • William Regal comes out and distracts the ref while Jericho has an advantage. Jericho misses a blind charge and gets hit with a german suplex. Benoit sets up the headbutt. Regal is still on the apron and Raven sneaks through the crowd again and pushes Benoit off the top. Jericho gets up and clearly looks at Raven before hitting the Lionsault for 3.

COMMERCIAL

Vince is in the back telling Show and Austin to make sure they get the job done tonight.

Kevin Kelly interviews Undertaker and Triple H. They acknowledge that at Backlash they’re going to beat each other within an inch of their lives. But they are both pro enough to know if they don’t watch each other’s backs tonight they won’t get the chance.

Kurt Angle is in the ring. Tonight he wants to go one-on-one with any former WCW star. The APA music hits and Faarooq makes his way to the ring. Angle reminds us that Ron Simmons was the first black world champion while in WCW. Angle wants to know if Faarooq is in cahoots with Shane. Faarooq says no, he’s just been looking for an excuse to kick Angle’s ass.

Kurt Angle vs. Faarooq

  • 6 minute match
  • Faarooq gets a lot of offense and wrestles his first real match in WWE in quite some time.
  • Faarooq elbows out of a German attempt and hits a big clothesline. Faarooq goes up top but Angle catches him with the belly-to-belly. An angle slam finishes it.

COMMERCIAL

Stone Cold Steve Austin & The Big Show vs. The Undertaker & Triple H

  • 9 minute match
  • Austin and Show works the ribs of Triple H all match.
  • Triple H makes a comeback and hits the Pedigree on Show, but is unable to get over for the cover.
  • Tag to Undertaker. Taker pummels a weakened Show until Show gets a reluctant tag from Austin.
  • Taker gets the better of Austin. Triple H makes a blind tag, which the Undertaker doesn’t appreciate. Hunter knocks down Austin then turns around and clips The Undertaker. Hunter goes back to Austin but gets hit with a Stone Cold Stunner for the pin.
  • Austin then hits Undertaker with a Stunner as well.
  • Show choke slams both men.
  • Show ends with Austin celebratin.
